BTM Plastobit
Plastobit is a waterproofing membrane manufactured from APP (atactic polypropylene) modified bitumen, reinforced with either glass fiber mat or polyester felt. The lower surface is coated with PE (polyethylene) film, while the upper surface is available with either PE film or a colored mineral granule finish.
The membrane is applied using a torch flame and provides reliable waterproofing performance for a wide range of construction applications. Thanks to the properties of APP-modified bitumen, Plastobit offers excellent resistance to high temperatures and weathering.
As BTM, we are able to manufacture 11 different Plastobit variants, each with specific technical characteristics to meet various project and performance requirements.
Product Details
Advantages
- Provides excellent performance in hot and moderately cold climates.
Applications
- Terrace roofs.
- Sloped concrete roofs.
- Retaining walls and foundations where waterproofing and damp-proofing are required.
- Designed for temperate climates and used as a base or intermediate layer in waterproofing systems.
- Suitable for waterproofing against both pressurized and non-pressurized underground or surface water.
Surface Preparation
The application surface must be free from dust, dirt, rust, oil, and loose particles. Depending on the substrate, BTS 100 or BTR 100 primer should be applied and allowed to dry completely before installation.
Application Method
Concrete surfaces should be finished with a properly sloped screed, troweled smooth, clean, and dry.
Before applying BTM Plastobit Waterproofing Membrane, the surface should be primed with BTS 100 bituminous solution primer (TS 103) or BTR 100 bituminous emulsion primer (TS 113) and allowed to dry completely.
Installation begins from the lowest point and proceeds toward the highest point according to the slope. BTM Plastobit is bonded to the substrate by heating it with a torch flame.
Membrane rows must be staggered. End overlaps (short side) should be 15 cm, while side overlaps (long side) should be at least 10 cm. A roller should be used to ensure proper bonding of overlap joints.
Between successive layers, joints should be staggered by 50 cm on the short side and 5 m on the long side.
